ELECTRICAL CONTROLS DESIGNER & FABRICATION

Stephenville & Decatur, TX
Full-Time

Associated Well Services is hiring an Electrical Controls Designer and Fabrication Technician in Stephenville.

You will design, document, and build industrial control panels and automated systems used in water well, pumping, and water and wastewater applications. This role combines electrical design with hands-on fabrication: you turn control requirements into production-ready drawings in AutoCAD Electrical, then work alongside our Controls Team to bring those designs to life.

The work is detailed. The standards are high. If you take pride in designing it right, building it right, and making sure the finished product works the way it should, there is real opportunity to grow.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Create electrical schematics and wiring drawings using AutoCAD Electrical

  • Develop control panel and enclosure layouts, including component placement, DIN rail, wire duct, door layouts, and subpanel arrangements

  • Generate bills of material, wire label reports, terminal plans, programmable logic controller (PLC) input and output documentation, and other production information

  • Help build, wire, assemble, label, and test industrial control panels

  • Interpret control requirements and specifications for pumps, variable frequency drives (VFDs), motor starters, PLCs, relays, instrumentation, and other industrial control components

  • Coordinate with Controls Team Members, project leaders, panel builders, and field teams to resolve design questions and incorporate revisions

  • Build and maintain AutoCAD Electrical component libraries, drawing standards, title blocks, and project templates

  • Help ensure panel designs and fabrication meet applicable Underwriters Laboratories 508A requirements and Associated standards

  • Maintain accurate, organized project drawings, revisions, and as-built documentation

  • Support troubleshooting, testing, startup, and continuous improvement of control panels and automated systems

  • Communicate design questions, material needs, conflicts, and project progress clearly with the team

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Experienced with AutoCAD Electrical, including schematics, panel layouts, and drawing documentation

  • Comfortable reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, control specifications, and technical documentation

  • Familiar with industrial control components such as PLCs, VFDs, motor starters, relays, terminal blocks, sensors, and instrumentation

  • Detail-oriented - you understand that a small drafting or wiring error can create a much larger problem in fabrication or in the field

  • Hands-on - you are comfortable moving between a computer, a set of drawings, and an actual control panel

  • Organized - your drawings, files, components, materials, and documentation stay tight

  • Collaborative - you communicate well with the people designing, building, installing, and servicing the systems you work on

  • Accountable - you take ownership of your work and follow problems through to resolution

  • Able to manage revisions and changing project requirements without losing accuracy or organization

  • Associate degree or technical certificate in drafting, electrical or electronics technology, automation, controls, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience

Experience with industrial control panel design and fabrication, Underwriters Laboratories 508A requirements, programmable
logic controller input and output, instrumentation, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, water and
wastewater systems, or field startup is a plus.

Water well experience is not required - strong electrical aptitude, attention to detail, technical ability, and a willingness to work
both in design and fabrication are required.
