FIELD TECHNICIAN - WELDING & FABRICATION

Stephenville, TX
Full-Time

Associated Well Services is looking for a Field Technician with welding and fabrication skills to support our water well drilling, service, construction, and project operations.

This is a field position first. You will spend a significant portion of your time working at customer and project sites, supporting installation, repairs, construction activities, equipment setup, troubleshooting, and other hands-on field needs across the company. Welding and fabrication are an important part of the role, but they are not the only responsibility. You may fabricate or repair components in the shop, then take those skills into the field to install, modify, repair, or adapt equipment and materials based on actual job-site conditions.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working outdoors, traveling to project sites, using tools and equipment, assisting other field teams, and stepping into whatever hands-on work is needed to help complete the job safely and correctly.

If you enjoy working in the field, solving practical problems, building and repairing things, and seeing a job through from start to finish, this role offers that variety.

Applicants should understand that regular field work is an essential part of this position. This is not a dedicated shop welding or fabrication role.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Work as a field technician on water well, construction, service, installation, and project sites.

  • Assist with equipment installation, repairs, modifications, material handling, setup, and other hands-on field work.

  • Perform welding and metal fabrication for equipment, repairs, structural supports, skids, piping components, and project-specific needs.

  • Take field measurements and use drawings, sketches, and job-site information to fabricate or modify components accurately.

  • Install, repair, and modify fabricated components in the field.

  • Work alongside drilling, service, construction, controls, and project teams to complete work safely and efficiently.

  • Troubleshoot field conditions and help develop practical solutions when plans or site conditions change.

  • Operate and maintain welding equipment, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment used in the shop and field.

  • Communicate material needs, job-site issues, equipment concerns, and fabrication needs before they delay the work.

  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas while following AWS safety expectations.

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Comfortable working as a field technician first, with welding and fabrication as part of the role.

  • Experienced in welding and fabrication.

  • Able to read a tape measure, interpret basic drawings, take accurate field measurements, and solve practical problems.

  • Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather and job-site conditions.

  • Willing to travel to customer and project sites as part of the normal workweek.

  • Able and willing to perform physical, hands-on work beyond welding and fabrication.

  • Dependable, safety-minded, and willing to take ownership of quality and follow-through.

  • Able to work well with different AWS teams and represent the company professionally on customer and project sites.

Previous experience in construction, utilities, water well service, field installation, industrial work, or similar hands-on environments is preferred. Welding ability is important, but we are equally focused on finding someone who is dependable, adaptable, and willing to work wherever the job requires.
